Your Winnetka Orthodontist
Board-Certified Winnetka and Evanston Orthodontist
Patrick Brady, MS, DMD
Dr. Brady grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago where he attended Fenwick High School.
He excelled academically and athletically, achieving all-state in baseball and football. He also won a state championship in the Fed Challenge, an economic competition.
Dr. Brady headed south to attend Davidson College on a baseball scholarship and earned a BS in Psychology. While still a student, he met his wife Misty, who played on the field hockey team.
He considered pursuing medicine after graduating but found a love for dentistry. Dentistry allows you to create not only beautiful smiles but also form lifelong bonds with patients and their families.
Dr. Brady decided to continue his education and earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. While in Dental School, he was a Dean’s Scholar and joined the Delphi Society and Omicron Kappa Upsilon academic honor societies.
Dr. Brady also discovered a passion for orthodontics. He was amazed at the transformation that happens during treatment. The self-esteem and confidence from a beautiful smile are life-changing.
Dr. Brady returned to the midwest to attend the University of Iowa College of Dentistry where he received his master's and Certificate of Orthodontics.
As an orthodontic student, Dr. Brady presented research at national meetings for the American Dental Education Association, the American Association of Orthodontics.
Outside the Office
Dr. Brady’s wife Misty is originally from Virginia Beach. It took some arm twisting, but he eventually got her to move back to the Chicago suburbs where he grew up.
As part of the deal, they moved close to field hockey, so Misty could coach. They were lucky enough to land in the Northshore and recently moved to Northfield with their young son Walter.
Misty has coached with Windy City Field Hockey for 3 years and recently became the head coach at Loyola Academy in Wilmette.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Brady helps coach local little league teams, plays softball in the summer and bowls in the winter.
This education and experience gave Dr. Brady the foundation to achieve board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics.
Only 33% of orthodontics reach this milestone. This means you can be sure that you’re getting top-quality care.
Traditional braces are one of the most efficient orthodontic tools we have. The metal or ceramic brackets are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. Through regular adjustments with our doctors, these components work together to apply gentle pressure, which will gradually move the teeth into the desired positions.
Winnetka braces are an excellent choice for correcting a number of tooth issues, from simple to complex. Because they sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other options might, overall treatment time can be slightly reduced. In addition, braces don’t require some of the more complicated technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can. This makes Winnetka braces a cost-effective orthodontic option for patients on a budget.
Rather than brackets and bands, the Winnetka Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move the teeth into alignment. This option is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists and is currently the top alternative to traditional braces.
Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and designed to fit snugly over the patient’s teeth. The trays are virtually invisible and are usually switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series.
This keeps the teeth moving in the right direction! Aligners must be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment in order for them to do their job. Patients who neglect to wear the aligners as directed can have a negative impact on the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.
Invisalign is at its most efficient when used to correct many of the most common orthodontic issues. For certain complex cases, Invisalign may not be a viable option. A free consultation with Brady Orthodontics will be able to help determine your eligibility for Invisalign.
